evaluation (questionnaire)

during today's lesson i did a questionnaire to other pupils in the school. I decided to go for the year 11 as they are the right age for my target audience the questions that i asked were

1. would the image that i used in the magazine attract you into buying it?
2. if you were to change anything on the magazine what would it be? layout, font, colours or image
3. to the ticked aspect above how would you change it?

for question 1 all 5 said yes it does
for question 2 4 people said colour and 1 person said image

they said the change that they would make to the colour is not make it purple and make it stand out more.
the person that said the image they said that it look too edited and picture is a bit blur.

DPS final

This is my final draft of my DPS the changes that i have made is a few minor spelling mistakes. I have also added a glow on the masthead to make it stand out more.

corrections- improvements

During today's lesson i asked my class mates what they thought of my double page spread so i printed out a copy and wrote down there comments the feedback that i got was

Make the masthead stand out a little bit more because it blends in too much with the background
Also there where a few minor spelling mistakes and punctuation mistakes so during my next lesson i will be making them improvements and posting another draft of my DPS.

This is my 3rd draft of my double page spread the changes that i have made are just some small corrections like spelling mistakes. I have also added another text box to keep the reader interested because they will read on if all of the information has been broken up rather than in one whole piece.

This is the second draft of my double page spread the changes that i have made is i have put a little side story on there to keep the readers a little more interested in the story i have also moved things around to see if things look better. I have also changed the image to a close up and have used the whole image as the double page to contrast the two pages together.

During today's 2 lessons i made my first draft for my double page spread. i have had comments that it is good how the page has been separated with the playing cards but it could be better if the main image was to bring the two pages together. Also my peers said that they should be playing cards because it doesn't really fit in with anything.

This is the second draft that i have done for my music contents page for my magazine. The changes that i have done is lowered the pictures at the bottom of the page and also i have added an e-mail address, phone number and address.

For today's double lesson i made the first draft of my music contents page and this is what i did.

during today's lesson i am going to design my first mock up of my music contents page my peers have told me to follow the same colour scheme and fonts because they fell that it will look more sophisticated and conventional.

In today's lesson all i have done is Analise my third draft and what my peers have said is that the title is very interesting and eye catching and there is a good colour scheme. Some bad points were that the picture is too blurry. So i will take these comments into account and make the changes that they have told me to do.

This is the third draft of my music magazine i have made the background fade from light to dark side to side and i have also changed the font of the "100th Edition" because my peers felt that it didn't look very professional.

This is my second draft of my music magazine front cover what i have done is made some corrections on the text and have also made the signature bigger and i have gave it a shadow. in my final draft i have been told to maybe make the background fade from dark to light around the image. So i am going to give that a go and see what it is like and see if it makes it look more authentic.

These are some of the different colour schemes that i was thinking of using and over all the students chose purple grey blue and white over all of the rest. This is the colour scheme that i have decided to use in my first design to see what it looks like.

This is the first draft of my school magazine contents page.

Strengths

• good use of school colours
• like the Polaroid snap shot
• good how page isn't divided into  different sections

Weaknesses

• text is a bit boring
• no page number on the second page down
• logo too small

Improvements

• use more interesting font
• put page number on second picture
• make logo a bit bigger

i have taken all of these comments into consideration and will be making some changes on other drafts until the target audience finds it suits then best

This is a magazine front cover that i have made for the school

I askes students in my class what are the strenghs of the magazine cover the weeknesses and what improvements could be made. these are my results:-













Strenghs

• How the picture breaks the splash
• The circle around his hand
• Good shadow on splash
• Writing is clear on background
• Interesting font
• Cleverness of the picture with quote
• Like the link with homework
• Writing stands out well

Weeknesses

• No capital letters in quotations
• Lot of space left
• Make background more interesting
• Red pug is harsh to the eye
• The pug looks boring
• Logo is too small

Improvements

• Make logo bigger
• Make pug more clear
• Change colour of pug
• Add capital letters to Quotations
• Avoid using red
• Add a bit more text
• Make image bigger
• More information about the school

Music Magazine Questionnaire

I did a questionnaire on music magazines and asked the following questions:-

What Genre of music magazines would you buy?
Would you be more attracted to the magazine if there was a celebrity on the front cover?
What is the one thing that attracts you most in buying a music magazine?
Does a music magazine necessarily have to colourful in order for you to buy it?
How much would you be willing to buy for a new music magazine that you liked?

I asked ten people in my class these questions and these are the results i got back:-

Most students said that the magazine that they would buy is Indie.
More students said that they prefer a magazine if there is a celebrity on the front cover.
Most students said that the thing that attracts them most in a magazine is the artist or band on the front cover.
Most students said that the magazine does not have to be colourful in order for them to buy it.
Most people said that the cost that they would be willing to pay is between £2-£3.

cover shot research

In this post i am going to talk about the camera shots that have been used in the magazine that i have chosen "Billboard" and why it fits with the genre of the magazine.

The camera shot that they have decided to use in this magazine is a medium long shot of Soulja Boy. This shot is unconventional because usually in RnB magazines they use close up shots to show the facial expressions because RnB tends to be serious and on this picture Soulja Boy looks quite relaxed and happy. Also the colours that they have decided to use is purple this is quite conventional because purple is a buying colour so it will attracted the customer into buying the product.

Genre research for Fader

In this post i am going to analyse the trends of the RnB magazine "Fader"

The image that have used in this magazine is a medium close up shot, they have used this shot because they want to show the facial expressions of Keli Hilson. it is important to be able to see the facial expressions because it fits in with the Genre of the music, which is usually quite serious.

The Masthead on the front cover of this magazine "Fader" is quite bold, however the colour is white this si good because it fits in with the \genre of the music because RnB usually tends to be quite simple and plain just people saying whats on thier mind, this fits in with the colour because it is just plain.

trends of Vibe magazine

 In this post i will be analysing the trends of a couple RnB magazines because that is the type of magazine that i have decided to do.

In this magazine Vibe has decided to use a medium close up shot of Kanye West. this is conventional with a magazine like this because you can see the tention in his face. They have focused on facial expressions on this magazine because RnB songs have mixed styles, so there will never be the same facial expressions every issue for example if you were looking at the front cover of a rock magazine then the person on the front cover would look really serious because thats what rock music is like.





The fonts that Vibe have used are very bold and bright colours this is because RnB music tends to be quite cheerful and pleasant so they have used cheerful colours to fit in with the Genre. most RnB fonts are bright and bold colours which makes this magazine a conventional magazine.
